Timber Framing Info

We design every building individually to take advantage of all aspects of the site and the wants and needs of the occupants. Designing each one has the added benefit of generally costing less than altering a standard plan in the field.

The Timber Framing craft has been around for centuries. At Timber Frames Inc, we use the traditional method of Mortise and Tenon joints. The crew of craftsman secure your timber frame one by one by interlocking these joints, and using oak pegs to secure the joints.

A Timber Frames Inc. shell is:

  • Watertight upon completion by our factory crew

  • Ready to wire, plumb, and HVAC

The Basic Shell

The Basic Shell is what we call the frame after it has been erected, and completely weather wrapped and insulated. Our structures are watertight and ready for mechanicals and finishes. The best value for the Owner/Builder or General Contractor.

The basic shell, that we provide, includes:

  • Frame design and erection of the timber frame

  • Pre-cutting of frame

  • Trucking

  • Off-loading of the frame

  • The installation of the interior finishes (on the exterior walls, roofs and ceilings)

  • The vapor barrier and foam insulation put into place.

  • The rough openings for doors, windows, skylights, and fireplace.

  • Furring strips applied over the insulation systems which become the nail base for your siding and roofing.
